Day 8 walking

VIGO TO REDONDELA( here we join the central route to Santiago)

This morning was a let start in Vigo, but soon had us climbing up through the town. This wa# not my favorite part of the day, bad signage, traffic, and noisy. Most of today was spent parallel with the RIA DE VIGO, the estuary that cuts from the sea inland to Redondela.

About an hour in we climbed into the forest above the city and it became a very easy and pretty walk along meandering alleys overlooking the estuary and the towns across the bay..

Found this great little coffee stop in the middle of nowhere up along the trail, had a hot chocolate and a cookie

Part of todays higher elevation trail

We have started to see more hiking pilgrims now, some starting their first day, but others coming up from the south who started the walk where we did, but took the central way.

King of his castle

From here on up, accommodation will be tougher and I think we will be using hostel more, in fact we are in one tonight.

This is Mary Beth’s first taste of the pilgrim hostel life and so far , so good

We are in a four person cubicle, and there are 10 cubicles in this big room, brings back memories for me if my first Camino

We have 4 days of walking left, we are way ahead of ourselves, so will split two of them so we arrive in Santiago on the 27 th, which was the original plan.

It’s raining tonight and forecast is the same for tomorrow, that won’t be fun as tomorrow we have a long muddy climb over the first mountain outside of this town
