Day6 of walking

 A GUARDA TO MOUGAS

we woke to a dry morning and hit the road at 5.30 am, dark and deserted till we walked past a disco that was still open and young folk falling over each other at the door, smoking and drinking. I guess it is the weekend though .

All night resellers outside the disco at 5.30am

Deserted town this morning as we walked out

We had to wear our head mounted lamps as we headed down towards the beaches and along the rocky shore line. This was a bot tricky for awhile, then looking back we said goodbye to this great little town.

Me trying not to trip in the dark and fall in the bay

The way today was pretty spectacular,, it changed from rock path, to forest, and then agricultural land. We had brought stuff to make a breakfast on the road with, as we knew that nothing would be open till we were way down the road.  The three of us made it to a little, but closed beachside bar, the three being , me , Mary Beth, and the devil that comes with her before she gets morning coffee.

After awhile I knew I was being watched over, the owner arrived and offered us coffee, from that point on, even her sore feet were better.

The blisters are an issue but she is doing great, and not one complaint, how lucky am I

We walked until we came to a village called OIA, quaint little fishing village where we rested up and had another “cafe con letche”

Here we also looked at the Monastery of Santa Maria de Oia before heading out to MOUGAS which was to be our final stop for the day. The rain started to come down at this point and we got soaked, but it didn’t seem to matter, we found a place to grab a late lunch and had eggs, ham, and French fries, then left for a place to stay, well it turns out there wasn’t any.

At this stage, we were we cold and tired after a long day and very early start, no hostels, so what would every hardened, experienced. ,long distance hiker do, find an over priced luxury hotel with a spa,,,,,,,,,and check in, ,,,,,,,,,,screw it I say

It just means we had to walk an extra three miles to get to it, but that’s three less tomorrow

Long day,,,,great day
