Day 5 walking
ANCORA TO A GUARDIAN ( in Spain)
Woke this morning and got ready for the day. We decided to make it a short one to give MBs feet a break, so the three of us hiked out of ANCORA along the beach and started to look for a coffee cafe,( we know who doesn’t do well till she has her coffee), but it was obvious Mary Beth was in pain.
Just before this cross, we came to a tiny church which was open and the caretaker was stamping Camino credentials, we took this opportunity to sit down and get her boots off so I could try and figure out he problem. We removed a piece of the inner sole and put mole skin on her heel, it was then I realized she was walking with her laces too loose. We addressed all this which took awhile and Kyle walked on. He was aiming for a stop farther down the road than we were, but we will cross paths again I’m sure. We walked another hour and the change in MBs gate and pace, AND ATTITUDE, was really evident, made me happy to see
Walking into the estuary town of CAMINHA, she was almost skipping. Here is where we had to find a ferry to cross the river MINHO, and get to Spain on the other side. We lose and hour on this crossing. We found the ferry but had to wait a half hour,,,,coffee,,,, was 6 euros a person to cross. Once we got the go ahead, we headed out to the ferry, huh, stupid me, I thought that big ferry on the right was the one, but noooo.
We had a laugh and enjoyed the ride across to Spain, getting off at some random stone wharf, no customs, no immigration, no anything, not even a Camino sign telling us which way the path went.

| Oh shoot, someone stumbled onto a street market, her bag could be a lot heavier in a few minutes |
Found our way marker eventually and of course it went up hill, then through a pretty eucalyptus forest, before bringing us into the small town of A Guardia. Found the town square, had my first RADLER which is like a shandy, it’s beer and lemon aid mix.
We are going to stay here tonight and head to Morgan tomorrow, weather permitting, this short day is doing MBs feet a treat.
It’s staring to rain, so we went out for a walk in the town harbor, got stuff at the supermarket and made dinner on the bed,. How fortunate are we
If it stops raining tonight, we are aiming for a day 5.30 am start tomorrow, hoping for the best
