Day 10 walking

PONTEVEDRA TO CALDAS DE REIS
Last evening we walked around town and had a great meal of fish and pork baked in a paprika sauce, over French fries, with wine

After dinner we strolled through the narrow streets till I lost Mary Beth, I stood there worried till I saw her come out of the crack house with a big big smile.
Crack house

Crack,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,can’t walk a camino without it

It seemed criminal to leave  a hotel like this so early, but we had to get moving as the rain was coming. We hit the road at 6 am and headed out of this deserted town in the dark, with a few others who were trying to fool the rain as well.
Leaving at 6 am with a few other intrepid walkers
No coffee shops open today at this time, AND it’s a public holiday, so not expecting much on the way in the form of rest stops and road food.
 We had about and hour

and a half on the road of rain and mud, this started about 10 minutes after leaving the city. At this point we found a garage where an enterprising gent had installed an automatic coffee machine and snack bar. this gave us an opportunity to get out of the wet and take a break. Jus as we took this photo sitting on the floor, MB bumped my knee, and sent all her hot coffee down my shorts leg and into my private parts,,,,,,,ok, my nuts.

My affections for her were a bit questionable at this time.
We eventually headed out for the climb, still wet from the rain and the…….., well she loves sugar in her coffee.

We passed the church of Santa de Maria de Alba

and climbed over San Amaro, not huge at 140 meters, but enough to get your attention in weather like this.. we came across a few other pilgrims on the way, more then enough had a good old limp going on.
We spent quite a bit of time in the vineyards today, kind of made me thirsty for some reason.

As we closed in on our final destination at 22 klms, or 14 miles, we stopped to drink from  the drinking fonte in the hamlet of TIVO.

From here we walked into Caldas de REIS and over the Roman bridge

spanning the River Uniã, we found our accommodation and went down to soak our feet in the natural hot spring fountain known as Fonte Caldez, I soaked my feet here 6 years ago, so it felt right, until some Spanish lady went ballistic and pointed out a new sign,,,,lol, oh well

A new sign?……….
                                                             Oh well,,,,',SHIT HAPPENS.
Old grain storage loft to keep the rats out

Dinner outside under the awning tonight

We would like a little more sun tomorrow

Onwards to Padron tomorrow, and guess what, we bought ponchos for the rain, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,now watch it not rain again.
